The 70th anniversary marked the suffering of Croatian people
Department for The Second World War and Homeland War of Croatian National Council organised on Sunday at the Cemetery of Peace in Bile, which is still being under construction, marking the European Day of Remembrance of the victims of totalitarian regimes: National Socialism, fascism and communism.
With thousands of believers the event was attended by, among others, representatives of the Church in Croats, high officials of the Croatian National Council of BiH, HDZ, the Croatian delegation, the delegation of the CDU of Germany, the HDZ delegation of Canada, representatives of social, political and economic life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH Presidency Chairman, president of the Croatian National Council and Chairman of the HDZ BiH dr. Dragan Čović, the mayor of Mostar Mr. Ljubo Bešlić.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Don Željko Majić, Vicar General of Mostar – Duvno diocese.
- This year, while the world is marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and we marked 20 th anniversary of the end of the Homeland War, often in history lessons, reviews and commentaries of raising a memorial and laying wreaths, we do not remember all suffering that Croatian people went through “ said Don Majić.
On behalf of HDZ of Croatia Mr. Damir Jelić, the vice-president, addressed gathering. At the end the wreaths were laid by personal representative of dr. Dieter Koch Mr. Clarsen Ratz on behalf of German Commission for missing German soldiers and on behalf of CDU and as member of European Parliament and vice-president of EU Board for Traffic and Tourism.
